Body Surface Area calculator
A minimal app for calculating BSA, used in pharmacological dosing
Contents
A pharmacological dosing tool
Body Surface Area (BSA) has a variety of applications in health care, including the calculation of appropriate doses for certain drugs. This small program, designed for use in a hospital pharmacy setting, runs on Windows and calculates BSA estimates using a variety of formulas (Boyd, DuBois & DuBois, Gehan & George, Haycock, and Mosteller). It was recommended by ISOPP, the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners, to its members.
Update: I’ve added a Web version of the app so that you can calculate BSA values right on this page. The original Windows desktop app can still be downloaded below.

Download BSA Bar for Windows (355 KiB)
Because this file is an app, your browser may warn you before allowing you to download it. Once downloaded, open the file to start the installer and follow the instructions.
Use
When running, a small bar will appear in the upper right corner of the screen. Filling in a height (in cm) and weight (in kg) will open the result area, where the calculated BSA (in m2) is listed using several formulas. The calculated values update in realtime as you type. Results can be hidden by clicking Hide Result Area, which returns the app to its original bar shape.
